Program content

8 modules
  1. 1

    L4M1

Scope and Influence of Procurement and Supply

Procurement isn't a support function — it's a strategic lever. This module shows how procurement adds measurable value across an organization through the sourcing process, cost management, stakeholder alignment, and compliance. You finish with the foundational vocabulary and frameworks the profession uses globally.

  2. 2

    L4M2

    Defining Business Need

Most procurement failures trace back to a vague specification. This module teaches you to translate a business need into a tight, defensible specification — and to back it up with a business case stakeholders can sign off on. Includes market analysis using Porter's Five Forces and budget modelling.

  3. 3

    L4M3

    Commercial Contracting

Contracts are where deals live or die. Learn the legal foundations of commercial agreements — offer and acceptance, contract terms, indemnities, liquidated damages — and how to draft KPIs and SLAs that actually drive supplier performance. Covers framework agreements, call-offs, and the contract types you'll encounter daily.

  4. 4

    L4M4

    Ethical and Responsible Sourcing

Sourcing decisions carry reputational and legal weight. This module covers how to select suppliers using defensible criteria, evaluate financial viability from published statements, and apply ESG and the CIPS Code of Conduct in real sourcing decisions. Includes international sourcing essentials — Incoterms, customs, letters of credit.

  5. 5

    L4M5

    Commercial Negotiation

Negotiation is the skill that compounds across a procurement career. This module covers both sides of the table — collaborative and distributive approaches — and equips you with preparation tools like BATNA, ZOPA, and the bargaining mix. Includes break-even analysis, costing methods, and tactics for handling difficult conversations.

  6. 6

    L4M6

    Supplier Relationships

A signed contract is the start of the work, not the end. This module covers the dynamics of supplier relationships across the lifecycle — from selection and onboarding through performance management to partnership or termination. Includes portfolio analysis, STEEPLED scanning, and the discipline of running a partnership.

  7. 7

    L4M7

    Whole-Life Asset Management

Purchase price is rarely the full cost. This module teaches whole-life costing — capturing acquisition, operation, maintenance, and disposal in a single decision model. Covers inventory classification, control techniques (JIT, MRP, ERP), warehousing fundamentals, and the discipline of running an inventory function.

  8. 8

    L4M8

    Procurement and Supply in Practice

The capstone. You apply everything from L4M1 through L4M7 to integrated workplace scenarios across public, private, and third sectors. Includes financial analysis from published statements, break-even calculation, and applied ESG decision-making. Assessed by case-study exam — the bridge between knowing and practising.
